This is a piece I did for ~jenn42 who guessed the correct scene featured in my "Guess..." scrap ([link]) down to the very page. Scary. j/k
Well, her request for me was to draw Prongs the patronus emerging from Harry's wand. So yeah, here you have it. It was really alot of fun to draw and I really enjoyed myself so thanks for letting me do this Jenn. Um, I wouldn't say this is really how I'd imagine the scene to be...I mean I don't necessarily thing Prongs would come out of Harry's wand as just a wispy willowy looking thing but eh, it was all I could come up with. But I guess I kind of like how it turned out with the whole smoky white fire deal to the depiction of Prongs in this piece. At first I made Prongs a whole lot brighter, cause I've always imagined he would be really really bright, but then I thought in that case Harry would probably be shielding his eyes to prevent himself from being blinded by the manifestation of his own father instead of looking up and smiling so yeah...I kind of toned it down slightly. Hm, I had a bit of trouble getting Harry to look the proper age. Now he looks a bit Dan-ish. That's Dan-ish not Danish. Just for clarification. But I guess it's 'cause the movie version of Harry is kind of stuck with me and that's kind of how I picture him nowadays. And yeah, he's supposed to be in the act of reaching up to touch Prongs, I guess it just looks like he's been Stupified (is that how you spell it?).
Basically, my goal was to capture the essence and the emotion of the moment when Harry first realizes the thing coming of of his wand is Prongs/his father.
Oooooo! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I'm so happy! This is almost exactly how I imagined it!
I love the way you draw Prongs! He's absolutely gorgeous! It's amazing!
What did you use to color this? Your use of light in the patronus is mind-boggling. I especially love the swirls of color around Prongs. You have definately got a wonderful talent.
(How long did this take you? I am very surprised at how quickly you produced this!)
Suetlilanglz is #1! I am so glad you did this for me!!! Great job!
Um, basically I started with a quick pencil sketch of Harry as a guide and then went directly to using watercolor pencils so that it wouldn't look too defined with the patronus and whatnot. The only colors I think I used were light blue and a dark blue tinted gray, along with regular pencil. I treated each area individually as I colored it in, some parts I left just pencilish and on other parts I used the watercolor effect. I started the coloring on Harry, beginning the darker areas first before starting on Prongs. Um, the the area with the patronus was mostly uncolored, I just laid down a bit of shading with a pencil first and then I went in with an eraser and rubbed out wispy strokes for the white parts. Prongs was mostly just a very light sketch with a colored pencil at first and then I went in and darkened some areas, like his eyes. Blah blah blah...ha sorry, I'm getting too descriptive.
this actually took me a considerable amount of time I think...my guess would be somewhere between 2-3 hours? More like 2.
Yeah, well, thanks for the opportunity. Glad you like it.
